April Freebies in Boston

Freebies Are Blooming All Over Boston This April

From free ice cream to outdoor concerts, cultural festivals, and even bike tune-ups, April might just be one of the best months to experience Boston without spending a dollar.

Here’s your inside scoop on the best freebies happening around the city:

🌭 Opening Day Hot Dog Deals

Calling all hot dog fans! April 3 is the Red Sox home opener and your hot dog Super Bowl.

  • South Street Diner (Boston) – Free, all you can eat hot dogs, with drink purchase
  • The Sausage Guy (Fenway) – Free sausages for the first 100 people, starting at noon
  • Pauli’s (North End) – $1 hot dogs for about one hour (1:10–2:09 PM)

🍦 Free Ice Cream Day

Mark your calendar: April 14 is basically a citywide holiday.

Ben & Jerry’s annual Free Cone Day is back. Walk into any participating scoop shop and grab a free cone or cup—no purchase necessary.

If the line looks long, just remember… that’s part of the experience. Find your nearest participating location here.

🧘‍♀️ Free Yoga Around the City

Stretch, sweat, and reset with CorePower Yoga’s free community classes, offered both in-studio and outdoors on Sunday mornings.

Spots are still open in April - don’t sleep on this one.

🌸 Free Concerts at the Arnold Arboretum

The Arboretum’s “In Bloom” concert series pairs peak spring blooms with live music. Think classical, folk, and pop—set right among the flowers, with a little botanical storytelling mixed in. More details here.

Upcoming dates:

  • April 11 – Magnolias
  • April 25 – Cherry Blossoms
  • May 2 – Crabapples

🏃‍♂️ Marathon Weekend Fun + Freebies

Even if you’re not running 26.2 miles, Marathon Weekend is packed with free events, giveaways, and family fun!

Highlights:

👕 Free Clothing & Toy Swaps

Refresh your closet (and the kids’ toy bins) the sustainable way - for no cost!

Browse gently used items, take home new-to-you pieces, and even customize finds with on-site fabric block printing.

No need to bring anything (unless you'd like) but bring a bag for your finds! Extras are donated to local non-profits.

🚲 Free Bike Tune-Ups + Live Music

MIT is bringing together sustainability and community this April in many ways - including free bike tune-ups from Casa Bikes, paired with laid-back live music (think jazz vibes).

Tune-ups are first come, first served, so get there early.

🎎 Celebrate Asian Culture

Two can’t-miss festivals this month:

  • Thai Market Songkran Festival (April 18, Harvard Square)
  • Japan Festival (April 25–26, Boston Common)

Expect incredible food, cultural performances, and even a cosplay show.

These are the kinds of events that remind you why people fall in love with Boston in the first place - especially this time of year. Have an event to add? Drop us a line and we'll add it to our list!
